To date, these exercises have already been forwarded to and acted upon by many sufferers of Vertigo. In the process, I have been asked several questions about the exercises and how they might affect the user and what to expect. Q1: Will these exercises further aggravate my condition or cause possible physical problems? A: At first, I found the first 4 exercises actually brought on a strong feeling of dizziness and nausea. These sensations gradually diminished over time until they disappeared completely. Beyond that the exercises did not adversely affect me in any way, other than ridding me completely of the symptoms of vertigo. To this day, I have not had the slightest indication of any symptoms leading to a return of vertigo. Q2: Should I consult my doctor or therapist before I start on the Exercises? A: Yes, if only for your peace of mind. I was recommended by my doctor to a physiotherapist who suggested I try out certain exercises that may assist in my overcoming the vertigo. Q3: How long should I exercise for? A: It took me a good six weeks before I was satisfied that I was completely clear of the vertigo. As to how long it might take you, only you will know? However, I found after doing exercises one to four, there was a major and positive change in vision and equilibrium. I then knew I was well on the way to beating this condition. Q4: Do I need to do all the exercises and in the order as listed? A: Yes; I certainly found the first six laid the foundation for the more mobile exercises. It may well be that in some situations the exercises might appear to be unnecessary. However In my case I pretty much followed the order as shown. Q5: Should I do the exercises only when I suffer a bout of vertigo? A: I do not know the answer to this question as I was constantly suffering vertigo at the time. I have been asked this question by people that suffer vertigo every now and again. The exercises can bring on the vertigo at times but then stop it in its tracks. I believe that anyone suffering from this condition, even if intermittingly, would benefit greatly by doing them regardless. However, I would strongly suggest you seek professional advice prior to starting. Q6: Do you still do the exercises? A: Yes. Every now and again I will tackle one or two of the exercises, just to see if I can bring on a feeling of dizziness or nausea. So far, none of the previous symptoms have reappeared. Q7: How do I know they will work for me? A: Frankly, I don’t know. You alone will be the only one that can tell if they are working for you. In my case, I knew after the first four exercises that they were working well for me, which encouraged me to continue. It probably took me a week to actually ‘see’ the difference let alone experience it. But I did persist with the exercises and did not give in to the dizziness and nausea that came with the activity. Q8: When do I start on the exercises? A: I started as soon as I returned home from the therapist and didn’t stop the routine until I had completely overcome the condition. However, you should consult you treating specialist if you are in any doubt whatsoever before you commence with the exercises. Q9: Should I have supervision or assistance on hand whilst I do the exercises? A: I would think that would be completely up to you. My wife was mostly on hand if needed, but not once did I require any assistance. The exercises that might cause the most concern are carried out sitting down. Only when you feel confident enough, might you consider standing up. THE NOTE OF CAUTION HERE IS, DO NOT DO ANY OF THE EXERCISES THAT YOU FEEL MIGHT RESULT IN PHYSICAL INJURY WITHOUT HAVING SOME SUPPORT ON HAND AT THE TIME. However, it would appear to me that if this situation should arise, then you have not progressed to the stage where such an exercise should be undertaken. If that is the case, I would strongly suggest, you revisit exercises one to four, and perhaps increase the repetitions quite considerably. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
